School and Life are two words that are often confused when it comes to their inner sense and connotations when actually, there is some difference between the two words. School pertains to education. The life of a student within the school is directed towards the successful endorsement of the socialization process and the accumulation of knowledge. The child not only gains academic knowledge within the school premises, but also discipline. As Talcott Parsons once said schools create a bridge between family and society for the child. On the other hand, life pertains to existence. In life, each and every person gains a variety of experiences and creates a lot of memories. People come across various barriers and passes different stages in life from childhood to adulthood. This is the main difference between the two words.

What is School?

A school is a place where one is taught and well trained in a range of subjects. These include mainly two branches of knowledge. They are sciences and arts. Arts are of two types, namely ordinary arts and fine arts. Ordinary arts comprise of subjects such as commerce, economics, history, politics, languages, linguistics, philosophy and the like. Fine arts, on the other hand, include drawing, painting, sculpture, architecture, music, and dance.

Schooling is a comparatively shorter period in relation to life. However, school life is important for all human beings as it is a unique experience. Within the school, the child learns to interact with teachers and also other children. This is a whole new experience for the child because it is the first opportunity where he learns to work in groups and interact with those who are not related to him. Also, the child learns to tolerate others and realize that people are different and have different personalities.

The education that a child gains within a school is not limited to academic knowledge and disciplining which clearly lay a foundation for his future life. This also encompasses other activities such as sports, extra-curricular activities and even little tricks and mischievous behavior.

Difference Between School and Life

What is Life?

Life, unlike school, is much lengthier and includes various stages of our lives such as our life as a child, a teenager, a young adult, a senior citizen, etc. Through each stage, people engage in different activities and learn to take more responsibility in life. Unlike in school life, where the main concern was education, in life as an adult the individual begins to apply his knowledge to real life situations. These credentials in school assist him to achieve higher education or employment.

Also in life, unlike in school the individual has to interact with different people for various purposes. He becomes a part of different social webs. Also unlike in the school where there is a teacher to instruct and point out the mistakes, in life the individual has no teacher. He is his teacher and should be able to do what suits him. This highlights that school life has a great influence on life in general as it impacts both the personal and professional life of each and every person.
