Apple iOS 4.3 vs Google Android 3.0 Honeycomb
When it comes to mobile operating systems, Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android are probably the best. With the battle for the tablet market, they both upgraded their respective operating systems; iOS 4.3 for Apple and Android 3.0 Honeycomb for Google. The two operating systems have pretty much the same capabilities and differ mostly in how they their interfaces work. Despite that, there are still some distinct differences between Android 3.0 and iOS 4.3. The main one is with what hardware you will find them in.
iOS 4.3 is found on iPads, iPhones, and even in iPods. So, there is little restriction on the device type that it can be installed on. On the other hand, Android 3.0 is specifically meant for the large screens of tablets and cannot be used with smartphones. There are other versions of Android that are meant for smartphones.
There are also a couple of differences that you would find between Android 3.0 and iOS 4.3, the most prominent of which is the lack of Flash support in the latter. Flash is used by many sites, like YouTube, to provide video streaming and create an interactive environment for visitors. The lack of Flash support in iOS 4.3 means that some sites will not render correctly. You also cannot view YouTube on your browser and need to use a separate app for that purpose. Android 3.0 supports Flash, so you can browse Flash augmented sites just like you would on a computer.
Another major difference between iOS 4.3 and Android 3.0 is true multitasking. Android 3.0 supports true multitasking, which what you get on your computer. All programs run concurrently regardless of whether they are in the background or not. iOS 4.3 limits multitasking to prevent overloading its rather limited resources. Only a few applications are allowed to run in the background, an example is the music app to let you listen to music while doing something else. All other programs are paused when you switch to another application. Most people do not really notice the difference between two, but some do. True multitasking in Android 3.0 requires indirectly requires that the hardware be a lot more powerful than what the iPad uses as it needs the extra juice to run multiple apps at the same time.
Summary:
1.iOS 4.3 is for both smartphones and tablets while Honeycomb is for tablets only
2.iOS 4.3 doesn’t support Flash while Honeycomb does
3.Honeycomb supports true multitasking while iOS 4.3 doesn’t
