Indian elephant: It is the largest, terrestrial animal found in the forests and tall grassy areas in India. It is gregarious, diurnal and herbivorous. Sexes show sexual dimorphism and female has a pair of mammae on thorax and small sized tusks. Female is viviparous. Body is divisible in 4 parts: Head, neck, trunk and tail. Head is large sized and bears small sized eyes, large pinnae, proboscis (trunk) and tusks (in both the sexes). Trunk is also very large sized with thick pillar like legs. Each limb is 5 digited but digits are not distinct externally because are embedded in a common integument. Tail is small and thin.
