Difference Between Cecum and Appendix
Key Difference – Cecum vs Appendix
Cecum and Appendix are two parts of the gastrointestinal tract. Cecum is a pouch-like structure of the large intestine that provides the space for mixing bacteria withchyme (partially digested foods) for furtherdigestion and faecal formation. The appendix is a fleshy tube-like structure connected to the cecum, which is an essential structure for maintaining gut microflora and in mucosal immunity. Cecum and appendix are situated at the junction of the small intestine and large intestine.
